    This position supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) SSD program. The Karsun team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement (DM&E) and operation of multiple FAA Systems. All employees must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust. The FAA SSD program supports the operations of multiple business applications, as well as development of new applications across different technologies. The Karsun software development team is responsible for the software design and implementation of web applications supporting multiple Business Lines within FAA. Successful candidates are modern web development specialists experienced in translating business requirements into software architecture.  In addition to strong software development skills, ideal candidates have demonstrated experience in working on an Agile Scrum team.

    Responsibilities

    This role is to act as a DevOps Administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

    The candidate will be responsible for managing our DevOps Toolchain, which includes Ansible, Artifactory, Jenkins, and BitBucket.  The candidate will assist developers with moving their legacy systems into an automated deployment model.

    This position is responsible for providing recommendations on DevOps best practices, application modernization, and adapting to a constantly changing environment. .

     

    Note: US Citizens, Green Card Holders & H1B Visa Holders are eligible for Public Trust Clearance required by the FAA.

    Note:  A majority of the staff works 2 days remote. 

      

    Required Skills:

    • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
    • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Chef or an equivalent
    • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required)
    • Strong experience with automating SQL and MySQL (NoSQL experience is a plus)
    • A working understanding of scripting language such as Python, Perl and/or Ruby
    • A working understanding of configuration files format such as YAML and/or JSON.
    • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
    • Able to perform under tight deadlines with multiple projects ongoing in tandem

    Desired Skills:

    • Familiarity with Configuration Management principles and tools, particularly Git, Jenkins and Splunk
    • Familiarity with software system installation
    • Experience with system administration including middleware installation and maintenance
    • Experience with one or more databases (Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL)
    • Demonstrated Agile Experience
    • Ability to lead small project teams
    • Familiar with FAA organizations and staff offices
    • Able to adapt to a swiftly changing environment
    • Knowledgeable about current customer off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies

     

    Qualifications

    Qualifications ( Education/Experience) 

    • Requires a bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Math, or Science and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
    • The ability to successfully obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance
